1. If you invite Benedict Cumberbatch to an awards ceremony, expect him to photobomb all the other guests.
2. Pants are the new dress. Hey, if Emma Stone and Lorde are calling it, we believe them.
3. Women in lead roles (or lack of them) is still a big issue in Hollywood. As Amy Poehler bluntly put it, "'Boyhood' proves that there are still roles for women over 40, as long as you're hired while you're still under 40."
4. It's not a red carpet without Jennifer Lawrence. Proof: this picture.
5. George Clooney loves Amal Clooney. In case you didn't know. The actor made an impassioned speech detailing his love for his new wife. "Listen: It's a humbling thing when you find someone to love--even better when you've been waiting your whole life. And when your whole life is 53 years, Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn't be more proud to be your husband."
6. Speaking of George - try as he might, he's no match for Tina Fey: "Alamuddin is a "human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, an adviser to Kofi Annan on Syria and was appointed to a three-person commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza strip. So tonight her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award."
7. The amount of Moet rolled out at the Golden Globes is akin to a small ocean. The celebrities drank 600 bottles of wine and 400 magnums of Moet & Chandon, in addition to 1,500 bottles of Champagne minis. And that's before the after party.
8. With millions of viewers around the globe, the Golden Globes is prime time to trot out a political message. From Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson to Amal and George Clooney, there were no shortage of #JeSuisCharlie signs on the red carpet. Bravo.
9. No matter what, there will always be Twitter trolls around to help bring the stars down a notch. Unfortunately in Lena Dunham's case, it meant removing herself from Twitter altogether after one fan commented, "I was enjoying the Golden Globes until gross @lenadunham showed up to annoy everyone with her pseudo femininity."
10. Kevin Spacey realllllly deserved a Golden Globe. After eight consecutive nominations, wouldn't you be annoyed if you kept being passed over? Thankfully, the Globes Gods decided to look kindly upon our favourite House of Cards actor this year.
11. It’s not a party without Cara Delevingne. Reports say she even managed to get Helen Mirren up and dancing at the after party.
