Victoria Beckham was made a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador last month, and the designer has already taken the opportunity to visit South Africa again on behalf of the organisation.

The star has been tweeting photos from her trip over the last few days, where she met with several members from the Elton John AIDS foundation.

"[Sir] Elton [John] is a very dear friend of mine and David's and we've been patrons of the Elton John AIDS Foundation for 20 years so I have been working a lot with lots of AIDS charities," Beckham explained.

The designer made an impassioned speech at the UN headquarters in New York earlier this month, saying it had taken her 40 years to realise she had a social responsibility to contribute and the voice to do so.

"I am mother and I am a woman. I will do whatever I can to raise awareness. I feel very passionate about this," Beckham said.

"I recently visited South Africa and was so touched by the women I met. I came home and I knew I had to do something. For some reason people will listen to me. This is the beginning of an incredible journey for me."
Beckham added she would do anything for her children and that every woman should "have the right to hope and the right to give (her) children a healthy future."

The designer was inspired to join the United Nations as a Goodwill Ambassador after seeing her husband David contribute tirelessly to charity.
