Kristen Stewart Opens Up About Moving On From A 'Traumatic Period'

When Kristen Stewart was caught cheating on her then-boyfriend, Robert Pattinson in 2012, with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders it was one of the biggest Hollywood scandals in recent history.

Despite a hugely successful film career, the affair and subsequent fallout - which she refers to as a ' bats**t crazy year' - still hangs over the 25-year-old Twilight star's head.

"Speaking very candidly, it was a really traumatic period in my early 20s that kick-started something in me that was a bit more feral," she tells the new issue of marie claire US.

Whilst never directly addressing the incident, she added of the dark time, "I lit my universe on fire and I watched it burn."

Kristen, who is now rumoured to be dating her assistant Alicia Cargile, says she is proud that she has been able to move forward and says age has made her 'smarter and calmer'.

"I'm really proud that I am able to move forward and not fall into every mental crater."
