British Actor Benedict Cumberbatch – internet sensation, viral social media star, he of the thousands of screaming fangirls christened ‘Cumberbitches’ – is engaged.

The 38-year-old actor announced his engagement to theatre director and actress Sophie Hunter, 36 – who he has been secretly dating since earlier this year – in the UK’s Times newspaper. How traditional.

A rep for Cumberbatch – who for many was considered Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor – has confirmed the news today.

He was today (Fri) still being quizzed by detectives over the shooting of Marcus Smith, 19, during the second break-in at his property in less than 10 hours.
