If anyone was born to dispense advice - the sort of #realtalk guidance that is actually worth giving a damn about - it's Lena Dunham. In her trademark nonchalant, frank way (and in the lead up to the launch of her collection of essays Not That Kind of Girl) Dunham star has released 12 short advice videos, answering questions sent in by her fans.

"I hope that you will buy [my book]," she says in the video, "but even if you don't I'm still going to give you advice."

Sitting in a cardboard office - complete with a view of cardboard New York and cardboard degrees (but that's a real bottle of champagne) - our October cover star spouts forth gems of wisdom on everything from how to be a feminist while wearing trashy clothing, how to love your body at all sizes and how to feel good about your writing.

Some of our favourite Lena takeaways (you can see all the videos here):

How to love your body at all sizes

"Being temporarily 130 pounds, I was so obsessed with food, I was so into counting almonds, that I don't think I got laid that entire time. Whereas when I was at my biggest and running around Brooklyn in a romper, it was raining men."

How to stop being jealous of other people's good fortune

"All the time you spend being jealous of other people is time you're not spending on yourself and pushing your vision forward."

How to stop sleeping with bad people:

"You have to love yourself to love someone who's going to love you... Let's take a moment to think if that makes sense."
