Alexander Wang's next collection for Balenciaga might be his last, WWD reports.

The French fashion house, which is set to unveil their Spring/Summer 2016 collection at Paris Fashion Week in October, is believed to have failed to renew the designer’s contract. Speculation has been mounting for weeks that a change in creative directors at the storied French brand might be on the cards.

Executives at Balenciaga’s parent company Kering (which also owns Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen) are remaining tight-lipped about the rumoured change. “There are ongoing discussions and I can’t comment further,” chief financial officer Jean-Marc Duplaix told WWD.

But WWD is reporting that the search for Wang’s replacement is already underway.

Wang has been with the label since November 2012, when he took over from Nicolas Ghesquiere, who had served as creative director at Balenciaga for 15 years. Today, Ghesquiere can be found garnering praise for his directional designs at Louis Vuitton.
