Is Amazon About To Buy Net-A-Porter?

Is Net-A-Porter for sale for two billion Euro? According to Women's Wear Daily, that’s the price Amazon is reportedly offering to buy the high-fashion e-tail giant.
If Amazon were to purchase the popular fashion destination – the two companies are said to be in “ongoing talks” – it would signal a step towards dominance in the competitive world of luxury online retail.
Spokespeople for both Amazon and Net-A-Porter’s current owners, Compaigne Financiere Richemont, have declined to comment, so it remains to be seen if the talks will lead to a deal.
But speculation is rife, especially since 2015 marks five years since Richemont first bought Net-A-Porter from founder Natalie Massenet (who remains in an executive role in the business).
If the deal does eventuate, WWD says that “purchasing a company like Net-A-Porter … would be a mega-move, catapulting Amazon firmly into the designer arena.”
