At the ripe age of 86, nothing seems to be slowing Daphne Selfe down.

The world's oldest supermodel has just landed a coveted new fashion campaign run by intu Trafford Centre in Manchester.

Selfe is face of the store's 'Dare to Wear' campaign, which challenges shoppers to think outside the box when it comes to their style.

Having appeared in the pages of Vanity Fair and Harper's Bazaar over the course of her career, Selfe says she's working more now as an older model than ever before.

"I'm doing more high fashion now than I did as a young woman, I think because at last I've lost the puppy fat!" Selfe told the Daily Mail.

The supermodel admits she finds the fashion industry difficult however, when it comes to body image.

"It is a shame that people always have to be so thin for fashion - but I don't mind airbrushing, at my age I like a little bit of airbrushing."

Selfe was first discovered in the 1950s, after which she appeared in campaigns for luxury labels including Dolce & Gabbana. Her career has now spanned over seven decades, which she credits her upbringing with.

"My parents gave me good genes and health, and I have always eaten sensibly," Selfe explained.

"I was brought up through the war so the phrase "make do and mend" has never done me any harm. I always try to make the best of everything, to stay positive and to have a healthy lifestyle."

Selfe isn't the only older model making a splash in the industry at the moment: Thursday sees the long-awaited launch of the film Advanced Style, a documentary about a group of 62-95 year olds who are challenging conventional ideas about beauty, ageing, and Western culture's increasing obsession with youth.
