Under The Sea: Chanel Paris S/S 2012 Fashion Week
Chanel's highly anticipated Paris S/S 2012 Fashion Week show didn't disappoint, with Karl Lagerfeld staging an elaborate 'Under the Sea' themed production which saw models including Miranda Kerr and Abbey Lee Kershaw appearing from the mouth of a clam.

According to the Guardian UK, the iconic Grand Palais was effectively transformed into an aquarium complete with "glossy white sculptures of coral the size of oak trees and high iron walls draped in undulating sheets of glossy polythene, so that the light had the refracted quality of sunlight underwater." To top it all off, singer Florence Welch entertained the crowd from a huge seashell.
"I was inspired by the movement of seaweed, its lightness, and by certain fish that have very modern shapes, like sting rays," Lagerfeld explained.
The collection itself veered away from the almost gothic themed autumn/winter collection, with the Telegraph UK stating that it was instead "overwhelmingly about lightness - those feathery tweeds and chiffon ruches practically floated away. Pretty? You bet, but without being cloying."
Silver, pastels and tweed dominated the collection, with pearls adorning everything from cardigans and belts to shoes and chignons.

Although Chanel muse Blake Lively was absent from the show amidst rumours of a recent split with Leonardo Dicaprio, Alexa Chung, Uma Thurman, Poppy Delvigne and Clemence Posey ensured the Chanel show remained a star-studded affair.
