Yahoo Lifestyle Tom Ford Says Actresses Are 'Terrified' Of The Red Carpet

They may look calm and collected on the red carpet, but rest assured that most of the A-list celebrities at the Oscars today are wishing they were elsewhere.
According to fashion designer Tom Ford, the event is one of the most "terrifying" for any actress because of the intense media scrutiny.
"I do not know an actress who likes it. They're fearful of what's going to be in reviews that wouldn't have been there 25 years ago.
"They're fearful of the glam cam. It's like being on a global game show, and it's horrible. They're terrified."
Ford's best advice for his famous clients was simply to pretend the red carpet was a movie they were starring in.
"You're an actress. Play a part. You're in a movie now and you're a major actress stepping out on the red carpet and you're one of the most beautiful women in the world.
"Just play the role. Get out of the car."
Let's hope Jennifer Lawrence, who adamantly hates the red carpet (she's fallen over at the last two Oscars) takes his advice.
"I'm trying to do the right thing, waving to fans, trying to be nice, and there's a traffic cone," Lawrence explains of her second fall. "The second I hit it, I was laughing, but on the inside I was like, 'You're fucked. They're totally going to think this is an act...' But trust me if I was going to plan it, I would have done it at the Golden Globes or the SAGs. I would have never done it at two Oscars in a row. I watch Homeland - I'm craftier than that!"
In recent times, there's also been somewhat of a red carpet revolt by actresses refusing to play up to the so-called "mani-cams".
When Julianne Moore was asked to show off her hands at this year's Golden Globes, she politely but firmly refused. "No, I'm not doing that," the actress said. Her refusal inspired several other celebrities at the event to do the same.
