Calvin Klein model Lara Stone is pregnant with her first child.
Supermodel Lara Stone and her comedian husband David Walliams are reportedly expecting their first child together.
The happy couple, who have been dating since 2009 and married since May this year, announced the news today in a joint statement.
“We're very excited to announce we are expecting our first child,” they wrote. “We're both absolutely thrilled but ask you to please respect our privacy during this precious time.”
Walliam, who clearly couldn’t contain his excitement, took to Twitter to let his followers in on the good news. “Some wonderful news,” he wrote. “My beautiful wife Lara is pregnant. We are having a baby! It is due next year and we both couldn't be happier. Dx”
Stone, who has been the face of Calvin Klein since 2010, is famous for her gap-tooth smile and “slim-line curves”.
“A recent survey showed that most women desire a body like Lara’s, with a waist and bust,” said Leni’s Model Management.
Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld, who photographed the model for the 2011 Pirelli calendar, said she had “made shape trendy” and invented “a kind of new girly femininity.”
Adds designer Riccardo Tisci, “I'm so happy to see her where she is today; she's so strong you get the impression that nothing could stand in her way. She's a real modern icon. Lara has the most incredible character that thankfully remains real and untarnished by the fashion system. It's so reassuring to see someone as successful as Lara keep her feet on the ground.”
Stone, who told stylist.co.uk that modeling was never on her radar as a child, added that she used to look at photos of Kate Moss but didn’t realise modeling was “an actual” job.
“I came from a standard family – my mum was a stay-at-home mum and my dad worked,” said the supermodel. “So you think that’s what your life is going to be; meet a nice man, get married and have some babies.”
Looks like Stone’s prophecy mightn’t been too far-fetched after all.
