The Secret Behind Gigi Hadid's AMAs Bob

Gigi Hadid almost broke the internet when she stepped on to the red carpet at yesterday's American Music Awards minus one very noticeable detail: her long glossy mane.

The hairstyle sparked much office debate, did she or didn't she?

While it looked like she had very well gone and lopped off her signature locks, a coy comment on the red carpet kept us guessing, telling E! News' Giuliana Rancic to "check back tomorrow to see if I still have short hair."

The 20-year-old Victoria's Secret model's tresses were tended to by celebrity hairstylist Bryce Scarlett, who has now revealed exactly how he achieved such a natural-looking, faux bob.

"Gigi really wanted to do something fun and different, the dress had a high neckline and a lot of interest in the front so we knew it needed to be something sleek," said Scarlett."Gigi had the idea of doing a faux bob and I jumped at the chance to try it".

"We put a partial wig over the back half of her hair to cover most of the length then combining in her real hair in the front, we then cut the hairpiece to blend with her shortest layers," he explained.

"The key is that your natural hairline is showing. The technique we used works if you have shorter layers that are the length that you want the hairpiece to match."
