How To Get Veronika Lake Hair
Less texture and more gloss makes waves look less off-duty model and more Veronica Lake. "This takes slightly longer to achieve and is a little harder to master, but the result is both classic and supercool," says Hampton.
Best for: Healthy, mid-length hair.
Get the look:
1. Apply a volumising mousse and blow-dry. You want a smooth finish with some lift at the roots. Working in small sections, use a curling tong all over the head, secure with sectioning clips and leave to set. "This is a very old-school technique, but it works the best," explains Hampton. "A curling wand can achieve a similar wave, but it won't be as beautiful."
3. Once curls have set, unclip and brush out lightly with a wide-tooth comb. "I usually blow-dry the part and hairline again, and re-curl areas to maintain that ultra-glamorous, sleek, set look," says Hampton.
The kit: Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse, $55; Robert de Soto Sectioning Clips, from $13.50 for 6 clips; Premium Pin Company 999 Rake Comb, from $1.95.
