The latest crop of blurring, high-definition (HD) and light-adjusting products promise photoshopped skin (read: poreless and flawless) under any lighting.
"They enable a foundation to be more about how light hits, reflects and reacts with skin, rather than painting a full face," explains makeup artist Victoria Baron.
To avoid the Angelina Jolie white powder face (Google it), dust powder lightly and evenly, and blend as soon as it hits the skin.
"Many HD powders are not designed for flash and when used on a wet foundation, they stick and change form," explains Baron. "It's not visible to the naked eye, but once a red carpet flash hits, it becomes quite obvious."
