Margot Robbie drops surprising Barbie casting bombshell
Margot has revealed she wanted someone else to play Barbie.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting the Barbie movie, which is set for release in two months, with Margot Robbie seemingly being born to star in the title role.
However, the Aussie star, whose production company LuckyChap Entertainment is co-producing the film alongside Heyday Films and Mattel Films, wasn't initially set to star in the film.
In a new interview with Vogue US, Margot reveals she had another A-lister in mind for the role of Barbie.
"This is going to sound stupid, but I really didn’t even think about playing Barbie until years into developing the project," Margot said.

She then revealed she actually wanted Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot for the role.
"Gal Gadot is Barbie energy. Because Gal Gadot is so impossibly beautiful, but you don’t hate her for being that beautiful, because she’s so genuinely sincere, and she’s so enthusiastically kind that it’s almost dorky," she said. "It’s like right before being a dork."
However, Gal wasn't available, so Margot took on the role.
When it comes to Ryan Gosling's Ken, Margo describes it as "the greatest version of Ryan Gosling ever put on screen".
"Ken wasn’t really on my bucket list. But in fairness, I don’t have a bucket list. So I thought I’d give it a shot," Ryan jokes to the publication.
