With Christmas just around the corner - terrifying, we know! - the time has arrived to plan your Christmas Day feast.

Whether you’re hosting a BBQ with friends or going all out to put on a traditional Christmas dinner for your family, it turns out there is one trick that could make the whole ordeal much less stressful.

Seasoned chef and host of My Kitchen Rules Manu Feildel says there is one mistake people make when it comes to their planning, and it’s preventing Christmas day from being a breeze.

“Just get organised before the day,” Manu, who has just launched a new range of fresh sauces, tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “The biggest mistake [people make] is trying to do too much on the day.”

Manu says the trick is to do as much as you can the day before, or even a few days before.

“Maybe doing a dessert and setting it in the fridge, so all you have to do is the turkey on the day,” he tells us. “And all your roast vegetables should be cut the day before.”

Alternatively, there is another sneaky tactic the chef also admits to doing.

“Get your friends to do it for you,” he laughs. “That’s what I do!”

Manu, who is set to host a new cooking show alongside former Masterchef judges Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston in the new year, also says his sauces would come in handy in the days following Christmas when you’re all cooked out.

“When you’ve been cooking all day for your turkey and your Christmas pudding and you’ve had enough of cooking, the next few days you have a BBQ by the swimming pool, just get the steak and pour the sauce over it and that’s all you have to do,” he says.

Spurred on by his own childhood memories of homestyle French meals created by his mother, Manu set about creating the new range of fresh and preservative free sauces to fill a market gap.

“I love my sauce so I thought I would share my recipes with Australia,” he tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “It’s been a long process. It has taken us five years to get here.

“All you have to do is tear the packet put in the pot bring it to the boil and pour it over your favourite dinner.”

Asked which one was his favourite he struggled to choose, “I can’t say that, that’s a question you can’t ask a chef,” he jokes, before adding Peppercorn is the one he thinks will become most popular.

The Sauce by Manu range of has six flavours Lamb & Rosemary, Mushroom, Mustard, Peppercorn, Red Wine & White Wine. The first three of these are now available in Woolworths stores: the Lamb & Rosemary, that goes with lamb, Mushroom, great with pork and poultry, and Peppercorn, to have on anything.
