Married at First Sight star Lauren Huntriss has revealed she battled skin cancer after discovering a seemingly harmless spot on the side of her nose.
The reality TV alum made the revelation in a graphic Instagram post where she shared what her nose looked like when the growth was removed.
In a terrifying twist, Lauren said she originally thought the cancer was a pimple which she ‘picked away at’ for months.
But during a dermatologist appointment made to treat unrelated acne, Lauren was urged to undergo a biopsy.
“The dermatologist noticed this spot on my nose... results came back and guess what? It was a skin cancer!” she wrote.
“‘But I'm only 27!’ I said at the time.”
It was then that the full extent of the cancer, which she’d long mistaken for a bleeding pimple, was revealed.
“During my consultation I was told it had to be removed immediately before it became malignant,” Lauren revealed.
“Although the cancer looked so tiny, it had apparently spread quite a distance beneath the surface.”
Surgery to remove the growth soon followed, the effects of which Lauren admitted included some ‘trauma’.
However, she was also quick to warn others to be cautious if they notice any changes in their skin.
“Don’t risk it, don’t wait or it may be too late,” she said.
Lauren’s assertive approach to her health comes months after her memorable appearance on Married At First Sight.
The stint saw her and ex-virgin husband Matthew consummate their relationship before he dumped her, admitting he no longer found her attractive.
