MAFS bride defends her rude behaviour

Viewers were left scratching their heads during one of last night’s wedding ceremonies on Married at First Sight.

Bride Ning shocked everyone when she came across as extremely rude and stand-offish at her wedding ceremony and into the wedding reception.

Viewers took to social media to call her out on her “icy” demeanour, but she has since defended her actions.

“I don’t actually think before I speak, whereas Mark does,” she told Channel Nine’s Talking Married.

When Ning arrived and ‘met’ her new husband for the first time, she said: “I’m just here for the food and drinks, not you, not this… just the food.”

And fans of the show were not happy.

But the mum-of-three said she was extremely nervous, and cold.

“I think he knows I was nervous,” she told the show.

“It was 12 degrees at the time and I’m from Townsville so I’ve never experienced anything like that,” she later added on the Today Show.

However, Clinical Psychotherapist Claire McHalick told Yahoo Lifestyle Ning was clearly suffering a panic attack before and at the wedding.

“Ning has attracted strong friendships with women who know her in all her strengths and vulnerabilities,” Claire says.

“These women were instrumental in helping Ning get through what was clearly a serious anxiety attack at the wedding ceremony.”

Claire says that these inner battles cause what Ning likes to describe as the “word vomit”.

“Ning is a woman with considerable self knowledge, but because of her experiences with abandonment she can lose the ground she is standing on,” Claire says.

“At this early stage it appears that Mark has the emotional stability that Ning needs, and Ning has the emotional strength to help Mark open up to his potential.

“They will be interesting to watch as they negotiate the building of relationship. It could be rocky, but it could also succeed and I think this is what the experts were looking at and holding hope for.”
