MAFS 2023: Meet the intruder brides and grooms

Will the new Married at First Sight couples sink or swim?

Our favourite time of the year has arrived and a fresh new batch of newlyweds is about to enter the Married at First Sight experiment. That's right, Season 10's intruder brides and grooms are here to shake things up and cause some chaos, or maybe just fall in love...only time will tell.

From a quirky IT specialist who falls hard and fast (and likes his ladies to fit a specific dress size), to a beautiful rule breaker from across the Bite looking to change things up from her usual type, these new couples are being dropped in the deep end. Let's get to know the brave new participants.

Brides

Evelyn, 26, Marketing Manager and Model from NSW

With her model looks and no-BS policy, Evelyn is no stranger to people assuming she's got it all together in life and relationships. But she can be vulnerable in love, and lately she's been choosing the company of her two dachshunds, Pickles and Mustard, over the risk of having her heart broken.

When it comes to past relationships, Evelyn was devastated by her ex who applied for a dating show while they were living together, and she's been guarded ever since.

She believes her Chinese-Australian upbringing and being a child of divorce is the reason she struggles to show affection or say "I love you", because she rarely saw it growing up.

Evelyn is cautious about starting a relationship because when she says yes, she's all in. And while she wants marriage and kids, she's vowed to never be the stay-at-home type.

Tayla, 27, Nurse from TAS

Tayla is a rule breaker who loves to be the centre of attention and isn't too shy to compete for a man. This nurse from Tasmania has been single for a year after discovering her boyfriend of six years was cheating.

Having always gone for "footy guys", Tayla needs help from the experts to break her cycle of unhealthy relationship patterns and dating men who are ultimately unfaithful to her.

Tayla wants to be a young mother just like her friends in Tassie and is looking for a man to start a family with. She needs her partner to put her on a pedestal, but not be too nice. He'll have to have good morals and be willing to back her, whether she's right or wrong.

Tayla knows she can be high maintenance, bad-tempered at times and picky with men, but she's hoping the experts can help with all that.

Grooms

Hugo, 32, Account Executive from NSW

Hugo is a goofball with extremely high standards when it comes to women, right down to their dress size. Hugo has been in love four times, falls hard and quickly, and describes himself as a hopeless romantic who can’t see red flags in a relationship.

Despite being confident with the ladies he can get the "ick" easily and be oblivious in hook-ups because he will often prioritise himself. So Hugo's main challenge is putting the work into relationships, something he is hoping to change with the experts' help.

Hugo wears his heart on his sleeve and wants help to find a partner who can be his best friend and teammate.

Rupert, 27, Electrician from QLD

Rupert is a cheeky larrikin tradie who says he can "scull a beer faster than Bob Hawke". Single for six months after his last relationship fizzled out, Rupert admits that when women first meet him they think he gives off "city boy" vibes (a polite way of saying they think he's a "f**k boy").

Nicknamed by his mates as "the cattle dog" because he will go up and chat to anyone, Rupert considers himself to be a flirt. However he knows he can be cold sometimes, and once a woman does something to put him off he's out, which is a trait he's trying to work on.

If Rupert doesn't have an initial connection with a girl he won't allow himself to explore it further. When he's in a relationship however, Rupert is loyal – he puts his blinkers on and only has eyes for his partner.
