Madonna brings Marvel 'down on our knees' with surprise appearance at “Deadpool & Wolverine” premiere

The pop icon posed for photos with her children and stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman at the premiere for the film that uses her "Like a Prayer" song.

The Queen of Pop brought two kings of superhero cinema to their knees, as Madonna made a surprise appearance with her family alongside stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman at the Deadpool & Wolverine world premiere.

Madonna attended Monday night's premiere for the film at New York City's Lincoln Center, where she posed for photos with lead actors Reynolds and Jackman, director Shawn Levy, and her kids, twins Estere and Stella.

"Down on our knees," Marvel's official X account posted after the event, referencing the film's prominent usage of Madonna's 1989 smash "Like a Prayer" — which, as Reynolds and Jackman have both spoken about on the Deadpool & Wolverine press tour, required a personal meeting with Madge to secure.

“Also, let's preface it with the fact that they don't license — Madonna doesn't just license the song, and particularly that song has not been licensed,” Reynolds said during a recent SiriusXM Town Hall with Levy. “So it was a big deal to ask for it and certainly a bigger deal to use it... We went over and met with her and showed her how it was being used and where and why.”

Reynolds called the meeting "one of the great thrills of my life," and said he was nervous to come face-to-face with the industry legend.

"I even asked someone who worked with her — I was like, 'Am I allowed to just say Madonna?' Like, 'Hello, Madonna?'" Reynolds recalled before answering himself, quipping, "'I'm f---ing Ryan.'"

Reynolds later said on Monday's episode of Live With Kelly and Mark that Madonna offered key notes to how the film would use "Like a Prayer," and he and Levy implemented the feedback into the film.

Elsewhere in Madonna movie news, the icon has resumed work on her upcoming self-directed biopic, with the entertainer revealing the film's working title, Who's That Girl, in a social media post last week. Entertainment Weekly later confirmed that Ozark actress Julia Garner is still attached to lead the film, with production expected to begin on the script — penned by Madonna and Erin Cressida Wilson — in the future.
