A New MacKenzie Baby in Outlander‘s Final Season? Sophie Skelton Weighs In — Watch

Now that Outlander‘s Brianna and Roger are reunited and on their way (we’re guessing) back to her family’s time period, you know what would make everything extra special? Another little member of Clan MacKenzie in the Starz series’ final season!

Indeed, Roger and Bree welcome a third child — a boy named David William Ian Fraser MacKenzie, whom everyone calls Davy — in Diana Gabaldon’s ninth Outlander novel Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. Given that the TV series’ co-showrunners Maril Davis and Matthew B. Roberts have discussed that the upcoming Season 8 will pull from Bees, we went straight to Mama MacKenzie herself for comment.

“Yes, in the books, Brianna and Roger have another baby,” Skelton tells me in the video above, shot at SCAD TVfest in Atlanta (where she took home the Lumiere Award). “As you know, we sometimes stick to the books, and we sometimes don’t. But I think it would be great if they had another child. And wearing the fake pregnancy bumps is super fun, so sign me up.”

Longtime viewers will remember that Brianna’s first birth — that of her and Roger’s son, Jem — took place at River Run, with Jocasta, Phadre and Lizzie helping the new mom while her parents were out rescuing Roger from being held captive by the Mohawk. Jem’s little sister, Mandy, was born on Fraser’s Ridge; Claire and Jamie were around for that one.

Though she is not at liberty to say much more about what we’ll see in the time-travel drama’s final season, she added this: “I’m a child of three, and I think three is a great number. So that would be super fun, if it was in Season 8.” (After you watch, let us know what you take away from what she says. We’re thinking an 18th-century baby registry is in order!)

Skelton and I also talked about what kind of mark the Rob Cameron trauma left on Brianna, how Bree’s Season 8 costumes are were some of her favorites and much more. Press PLAY on the video above to watch it all.
