Macca’s to go digital

McDonald's is, without a doubt, the most successful, popular, and influential fast-food restaurant chain in the world.

But being the best isn’t always enough.

To keep things fresh and exciting for their customers, McDonald’s have made some major revamps in the recent years.

The fast food joint first surprised us at the end of 2014 with their gourmet burger range and personal table service.

In February, customers can look forward to ordering from digital kiosks at their table in all newly-transformed McDonald’s restaurants across Australia.

The ordering system was deemed a hit after being successfully trialled in 14 McDonald’s restaurants across the UK.

The quick and clever kiosks will attempt to modernise the chain and attract more families.

While traditionalists will still have the option of ordering at the counter, the new layout aims to make ordering less stressful for parents with kids.

The posh new concepts aim to transform the Macca’s experience for all Australians within three years as part of their reimagined brand strategy, since sales suffered in July 2014.

The food giant began to make headway when it opened its first luxury restaurant in Japan, followed by Australia, Germany, France and Switzerland.

Now the red and yellow lights are on the UK, where made-to-order gourmet burgers and table service will be implemented at more than 400 of its restaurants.

Paul Pomroy, chief executive of McDonald’s UK, said “...the rollout of our reimaging programme is transforming the way we serve customers, and has been a key growth driver.”

“To date, over 300 restaurants have been refurbished and we expect a further 350 to be completed and reopened for customers by the end of the year – an average of one every day,” he said.

And if that wasn’t enough, McDonald’s plans to double the number of its restaurants selling its range of premium burgers called the signature collection.
