Heartbroken reality star 'force-fed' by producers

Warning! Spoilers below:

A heartbroken reality show contestant has revealed the shocking impact her stint on the TV series had on her mental health.

Amy Hart sensationally quit Love Island UK last night after she was left devastated when her ‘half-boyfriend’ and first love, ballroom dancer Curtis Pritchard, dumped her last week.

Now, the 26-year-old has revealed that things got so bad in the Spanish villa that producers of the hit reality show had to ‘stand over her’ to make sure she was eating.

“I was in absolute despair,” Amy said in an interview with The Sun.

“I couldn’t eat, I lost six pounds.I didn’t feel hungry.

“When I wouldn’t eat, they would stand over me and make me eat a bowl of food or I couldn’t do the challenges.”

Amy said she decided to leave the villa to focus on her mental health and put her ‘sanity first’.

Curtis dumped Amy on the show last week (which Aussies can watch on 9Now) after revealing to the air hostess that something wasn’t right in their relationship and that he fancied fellow contestant, Jourdan Riane.

After just a few days, another Islander, Maura Higgins, decided to make a move on the 23-year-old ballroom dancer, which infuriated an already devastated Amy.

Amy said she couldn’t stay in the villa while Curtis ‘cracked on’ with Maura and told her ex in an emotional conversation that she was leaving the house to let him ‘be happy’ and move on.

Last week, hundreds of viewers complained to UK TV watchdog Ofcom, after they were left concerned for Amy’s mental health during the breakdown of her relationship with Curtis.

Amy was heard saying she had “no future” and that Curtis had taken it away from her, as she sobbed on camera on the show.

“I thought I’d met my first love and ‘the one’ and it turns out I haven’t. I’m someone’s back-up plan yet again,” Amy said.

“I wouldn’t have ever looked at anyone else. He was my future and now I have nothing and he’s taken that away from me.”

It’s believed Amy is being offered psychological support by Love Island’s aftercare devision.
