Love Island star Matthew's 'weird' sex confession leaves viewers disgusted

One of the stars of the new season of Love Island Australia has left viewers - and his new ‘girlfriend’ in the villa - reeling with his ‘weird’ sex confession.

On Wednesday night’s episode, model and wrestler Matthew Zukowski revealed that he keeps count of the number of women he’s slept with in the Notes section of his iPhone.

The 24-year-old’s bombshell caused friction with his fellow Love Islander, Vanessa Joli, who he coupled up with earlier in the season, prompting her to demand ‘some space’.

Gobsmacked fans took to social media to share their reactions to Matthew’s revelation, calling it ‘weird’ and ‘mindblowing,’ with one even branding him a ‘f*ckboy’.

Matthew’s shock confession

The WWE fan, who is pals with last year’s contestant Justin Lacko, attempted to explain his unusual habit to Vanessa, saying, “It’s not as bad as it sounds”.

However, the brunette beauty made it clear that she wasn’t shaming him for the number of sexual partners - which he listed at 106 - but the way that he keeps a record.

“It’s not the number that pisses me off, it’s the fact that you’ve kept tabs,” she stated.

“I’m trying to understand the reasoning behind it,” she added, to which Matthew replied, “I’m a stat man”.

Why he keeps count

“I don’t know, I’ve always done it. I know a lot of blokes who’ve done it,” Matthew went on to say.

In a one-on-one interview filmed after the argument, he compared keeping a tally of his sexual partners as not dissimilar to his habit of tracking his number of ‘coffees,’ ‘teas’ and ‘shirts’ (he has 97 by the way).

The new couple then bickered over iCloud, with Matthew stating he syncs his count via the online storage system which contradicts what he told Vanessa earlier, that he doesn’t know ‘how to do it’.

"I didn't lie about my iCloud!” he exclaimed, prompting Vanessa to demand, “I just need some space... I need a breather”.

Again, in a later interview, Matthew branded Vanessa’s concerns “so petty”.

Matthew’s ‘weird’ habit

Love Island viewers wasted no time in sharing their thoughts on Matthew’s sex confession on social media.

“Matthew, keeping count is weird. Advertising it is weirder,” wrote on fan on Twitter.

Others questioned whether Matthew’s claims were true.

“If Matthew has slept with 106 girls then I’m the Prince of Egypt. What a flop,” one wrote.

“Hearing Matthew slept with 106 people seems mindblowing. Has anyone in the world broke that record? Or is it new?” another joked.

“Matthew????? 106? ok” said another.

Channel Nine’s cheeky comment

Both the official Love Island and Channel Nine Twitter accounts weighed in on the controversy, poking fun at the star in two separate tweets.

Others came out in Matthew’s defence, saying that there’s no problem with either the number of people he’s slept with nor his keeping count.

“I'm not the biggest Matthew fan. But...I don't see what's wrong with keeping track of how many people you've slept with?” said one.

“Ffs. Who cares how many women he slept with. Get over it,” another wrote on Instagram.

Others still were critical of Matthew’s behavior, calling him a “f*ckboy” and a “liar”.

“Ahh Matthew. My toxic masculinity alarm bells are a-ringin!” wrote one on Twitter.

“if you would like to see a f*ckboy in the wild, please tune in to #LoveIslandAU and watch Matthew work,” said another.

“Oi, at this point I don’t like Vanessa but she’s right not to trust Matthew. That guy smells like a liar,” was another’s opinion.

Matthew’s other awkward on-air moment

It’s not Matthew’s first brush with controversy after he snubbed contestant Cynthia Taylu in the first episode.

Despite her show-stopping looks and bubbly personality, the 22-year-old model was picked last during the initial partnering, even after she stepped forward for Matthew, who of course ended up choosing Vanessa.

Matthew’s move left fans bewildered with many calling it both ‘painful’ and ‘so awkward’.

Love Island airs Monday to Friday on Channel Nine.
