Little Aussie Mix Snatches Big Brother's 'Chill Pill' and Ends Up in a Hilarious Haze

Has your dog ever done something that caught you off guard? Sometimes, they behave in surprising ways, and nothing can prepare us for the experience until it happens.

One set of pet parents recently found themselves in one of these situations. While they’ll not allow it to happen again, the results of this mishap will become a lasting memory.

Watch what happened when a smaller dog stole his much bigger brother’s medication in a video shared on July 4:

Oh, boy! Pacino (@ventipuppacino) was undoubtedly hearing things in colors! His parents explain that while giving their 130-pound Rottweiler his sedative medication, Acepromazine, this 38-pound dog flew through the air to steal the spoonful of peanut butter containing it. If you ever had to give this medication to an anxious dog, you’re likely very familiar with the stoned-looking face and drunken gait that accompanies it. Much like simple tasks can be complex for inebriated humans, just climbing into a chair can pose a serious challenge. But the look on his face seems to say he’s having a great time, no matter where his mind might be. In the comments, his parents say they now administer this medication in a separate room so that this good boy won’t be getting high again anytime soon.

What Should You Do If a Dog Consumes Unprescribed Medication?

Although we may take precautions and think it will never happen to us, sometimes things go awry. Should your dog ever ingest unprescribed medication during business hours, it’s best to call your animal’s veterinarian immediately. If it’s after hours, the ASPCA poison control hotline (888-426-4435) is also available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They can help you decide what necessary action to take to help your beloved pet.

Pet parents were understanding of this situation. One person shared, “This looks like what happened to our Wednesday. It was our town’s fireworks for the 4th, and our small little 13-lb boy took out 50-lb boy's ‘Booms, not scary meds.’ He wasn’t walking straight and looked so drunk.” Even the correct dose can cause that reaction. Another parent reported, “Yep, one time we gave our neurotypical dog our neuro-spicy dog’s Prozac. They weighed the same, though. But she was totally high.” No doubt!

Thankfully, this potentially scary situation had a happy ending. Sometimes, when life throws you a lesson, you must learn from it, laugh, and help prevent others from making the same mistake.
