Linkin Park Fans React to Band's First Awards Show Performance Featuring New Singer

Linkin Park joined an exciting lineup of performers for the Dec. 12 Billboard Music Awards, performing "The Emptiness Machine" from their tour in Brazil with new lead singer Emily Armstrong at the forefront.

For fans of the group, this marks a major change, with Armstrong joining Linkin Park in September 2024 before the band started up activities again following singer Chester Bennington's death in 2017.

Nominated for five 2024 Billboard Music Awards, Linkin Park took home two trophies–one for Top Rock Duo/Group and another for Top Hard Rock Artist–before they dominated the show on Thursday, with fans quickly sharing their thoughts online.

Many fans were excited to see Armstrong onstage as a new member of the band, praising her vocals and stage presence.

"Amazing to see linkin park closing primetime awards shows again, what a great time to be a fan," said one fan of the group, as another chimed in, "Well done!"

A third asked, "Why am I crying with the Linkin Park performance? I think I'm thinking too much about Chester."

"That Linkin Park song is awesome. #BillboardMusicAwards," a different viewer declared.

"Linkin Park has a female lead singer," another pointed out, adding, "I'm here for it. #BBMAs."

One more wrote, "Linkin Park was the only good part of that show #BBMAs. That was awesome! They deserved more than 2 awards."

Armstrong co-founded the band Dead Sara in the early 2000s, and the group most recently worked together in 2022. It's unclear what the group's future plans are with Armstrong also a member of Linkin Park.

Along with Armstrong, Linkin Park also welcomed new drummer Colin Brittain recently following the departure of founding member and drummer Rob Bourdon, who decided to step away from the band.
