Troye Sivan shocks with X-rated 2024 ARIAs speech: 'Sorry mum'
Troye Sivan held nothing back during his ARIAs acceptance speech, despite his mum being in the audience!
Troye Sivan shocked his mum when he shared an X-rated confession while accepting his 2024 ARIA Award for Album Of the Year. The singer was stunned after winning the award, saying, "I literally don't have anything to say," before sharing a surprising confession about how the album was written.
"Genuinely, totally, totally speechless, thank you guys, so, so much," he said. "This album has completely, completely changed my life. It was inspired by the moments between lockdowns in Melbourne.

"I was single, and really depressed and lonely, and then those little glimpses of hope in between. I just started to go out and hook up with random people," he added as the crowd started cheering for him, before the camera turned to his mum who was covering her ears and looked shocked.

"Oh, my mum, sorry mum!" he added. "Guys, my mum has seen the craziest s*** at my shows, this is like, nothing for her."
Troye then shared the specific story that inspired the album, saying, "So, I was going through the break-up, really, really depressed, and I meet this one guy. I have this – mum *imitates covering his ears*, one night stand with him, right? And we have this incredible, incredible connection.
"And I'm like, oh my God, I thought the connection could only look like one thing, you know? And then I started to realise just how many people there are in the world and how many incredible connection of all kinds can feel, and how it can present in all of these different ways."
He adds that he wrote the album "about this random stranger that I never saw again", until, he explains, he was at a wine bar in Melbourne and he sees the stranger again.
Troye says the man came up and said hello to him, adding he struggled to even remember the person's name.
"And then the crazy thing is, that I said to him – the album is out at this point and it's going really well – and I said to him, just so you know, it's sort of about you," he said, adding the guy told him that he was going through a breakup and Troye's album was getting him through that breakup.
