Kyle and Jackie O's secret demand in $200 million radio deal

EXCLUSIVE: The duo made their bosses agree to one major condition before signing their new contract.

It was officially announced on Wednesday morning that radio duo Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson had signed a 10-year deal with ARN reportedly worth $200 million.

The new deal, which has been described as the biggest deal in Australian media history, will see the presenters’ salaries increase from $5 million to $10 million until 2034.

The Kyle and Jackie O Show will also be broadcast in Melbourne for the very first time, but that’s not the only change the hosts demanded.

Yahoo Lifestyle understands that Kyle and Jackie were hesitant to re-sign until their bosses agreed they would be getting a brand new state-of-the-art studio.

It’s believed the entire ARN office will be leaving their current location in North Ryde at the start of the new year and going to a new spot somewhere around Sydney’s CBD.

The hosts have already started hinting on their radio show that they will soon be relocating, with Jackie recently joking that there’s no need to replace a tech issue because they don’t have much longer in the studio.

News.com.au also reported that the pair’s new contract allows Kyle to broadcast the show from “anywhere on the earth” whenever he wants.

It’s believed the pair began contract negotiations with ARN in January and also briefly considered returning to their previous station Southern Cross Austero to potentially expand the show.

'Momentous day'

Kyle announced the major contract news on Wednesday, saying in a statement: “Love us or loathe us, Jackie and I will be continuing with our politically incorrect nonsense for a long, long time.

“Speaking of 10 years... 10 years ago the ‘other’ network we were once at told Jackie and I that we were past our used by date and no longer relevant. So that’s a fun little observation that’s worth mentioning on such a momentous day.”

Jackie agreed, adding: "It’s an honour to broadcast to Melbourne again after so many years, and to welcome them back to our craziness is really exciting. After 23 years of broadcasting with Kyle, I still pinch myself that our show continues to grow in ratings and in reach.”
