Kelsey Grammer has enjoyed quite an incredible career, but he is perhaps best known for his role as Frasier Crane, the role he played for 20 years across fan favourites Frasier and Cheers from the 80s to 00s.

The 66-year-old may have wrapped up on the show in 2004, but with a reboot in the works, the actor told Yahoo Lifestyle the "first" celebrity he hopes to make a cameo on the show.

Kelsey chats to us alongside the incredible Julia Stiles, about their newest film The God Committee, based on a play of the same name, in which the stars are doctors on an organ transplant committee that has just one hour to decide which of three patients deserve a life-saving heart. Seven years later the members of the committee struggle with the consequences of their decision.

In the film, Kelsey and Julia's characters are in a secret relationship, which is made even more complicated by their work and their differing opinions on who should receive the heart transplant.

And it seems the film has created a beautiful friendship between the pair, and they're very keen to find every opportunity they can to work with each other, with Julia jumping at the chance to request a part, no matter how small, in the Frasier reboot.

"We're sort of hurling headlong toward it!" Kelsey tells us about the reboot. "We have a script and we're out to the other actors and we think it's looking pretty good! We've sort of found our stride in terms of what we think the writing should be for the first episode and then we have to get a writers room put together, but it seems like our partners at Paramount Plus are interested in, you know, sort of inhabiting the staff now and getting it up on its feet and we should probably be shooting something in the first or second quarter next year."

"Just a quick idea, just spitballing here, if you need like a cameo of a patient, even just the voice of a patient, you know where to find me!" Julia jumps in.

"You're the first person I'm coming to!" Kelsey smiles. "She's magnificent, obviously, just wonderful," he adds after joking that they clearly hate working together.

Whether or not the cameo does come to fruition, it seems Julia has already made plans to work with Kelsey again next year on her directorial debut, Wish You Were Here, based on the book by Renee Carlino.

When asked, somewhat jokingly, if Julia might have a role for Kelsey in the film, the pair looks at each other before Julia questions if it's OK to share the news.

"You can say!" Kelsey tells her.

"Yes! He's gonna play the lead character's father!" Julia says excitedly. "He's gonna play the, the representative, you know the patriarchal figure the representative of like the guy that she would hope to marry."

"News breaking," Kelsey adds.

"I'm hoping to get Kelsey to sing a bit in it, because after The God Committee he was going to go off and do Man of La Mancha in London, and so he was practising all the opera in his dressing room which was like a hospital room, but because it was close quarters, I got to hear all of that and he has an amazing voice that I'm going to exploit in my directorial debut!" Julia says.

"And I'm very very excited about it," he responds.
