Bizarre moment MAFS UK groom reveals creepy reason why marriage won't work

If you're experiencing a Married At First Sight void in your life, well good news — MAFS UK is now airing and already the season has been off to a chaotic start, from a groom pranking his bride by wearing fake teeth, to another groom thinking the sister of his bride was his initial match. As the mess unfolds, one UK groom has become a talking point after expressing early concerns as to why he thinks his marriage won't work out.

The UK version of the hit reality show is now in its ninth season, and episode one saw Caspar Todd meet and marry Emma Barnes as one of the eight couples looking for everlasting love on one of the messiest shows to ever exist in the history of reality TV.

It wasn't quite love at first sight for Caspar who looked shocked upon clapping eyes on his bride Emma for the first time. Don't just take our word for it, have a look at the geezer (I'm practising my UK slang).

After the ceremony, Caspar took to his Voxxie to compliment Emma but ultimately had a bit of a dealbreaker.

"Emma is full of energy, big smile, really big laugh, beautiful dazzling woman," he started. "But if I'm being completely honest, she very much reminds me of my sister."

Caspar's concerns were then highlighted on the show as the editing focused on Emma and Caspar's sister, Daisy, showing their resemblance — from their mannerisms down to their similar laugh.

Meanwhile, Emma was out there thinking Caspar - her potential new brother, apparently - had ticked all her boxes. "At the beginning of the day, I had preconceptions, blue suit, a bit of stubble, he's got these lovely brown eyes - he's pretty much ticked every box that I asked for," she said.

Things didn't get any better when at the reception Caspar confided in Emma's sister that Daisy is the one person in the world who makes him angry and "drives him around the bend" before saying he knew Emma and Daisy would get along. Uh oh...

MAFS fans react to bizarre storyline

So could you get to know someone who kinda reminds you of your sibling? Uhhh, MAFS fans aren't convinced. It's not like the show has a great track record, and already the parallels between Caspar and Emma and their lives seem to have set them up for absolute failure.

"He's not into her at all ....who wants someone who reminds them of their sister," one fan commented on Instagram. "I thought his sister and her sister look like identical twins 👯😮 hopefully he’ll realise what he’s on the show for and grow up," another person argued.

"NGL, Caspar is giving me red flags. Like what’s the beef with his sister?! Feels more than just ‘sibling rivalry’🥴 going to need a backstory on it I think," another person said. "I feel sorry for poor Emma already. He’ll never give her a chance or the openness she deserves because of whatever issues he has with his sister," someone else agreed.
