Aldi has struck gold again with a winning product that’s got Brits - and probably a fair few Aussies - racing to their nearest store. For the past week, the budget-friendly supermarket has stocked the pink, fruity lollies known in the UK as Marks & Spencer’s Percy Pigs.

Usually unavailable in Australia, Aldi has once more gone the extra mile to give the Poms a taste of home and understandably the Brits are going wild for them. And what's not to love? These super sweet and very pink pieces of candy are a staple of many a British childhood - and with a huge expat community down under, Aldi has an excited (and hungry) fanbase ready to go back in time.

Sarah Clelland, a Scot working in rural NSW, spotted them on her weekly Aldi shop and, as well as making her day, her TikTok video about them has now got thousands of views.

“I’ve loved Percy Pigs since I was little,” the 27-year-old told Yahoo Lifestyle. “They were $8 for 500 grams but there was no doubt they were going in my trolley when I saw them.”

In her TikTok, Sarah sits in her car as she excitedly opens the bag of 'Biggetjes' - which is Dutch for piglets. The sought-after lollies are part of Aldi’s selection of Special Buys for Dutch week but the sweets seem to be the perfect dupe of the Percy Pigs.

“They looked very similar but I thought they wouldn’t live up to my expectations,” Sarah tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

However, in her video as soon as she pops a piglet in her mouth, her joy is instant!

“Shut up,” she grins pointing at the bag. “Oh my God!”

So, yeah. They are a hit!

Sarah’s not the only person to make the discovery as another Brit in Oz, Abigail Josephine, has shared her piggie haul online too.

“Found Percy Pigs long lost cousin in Australia,” she says in her video. “It’s my dream, I have goosebumps!”

“Omg what Aldi is this… it’s not a want, it’s a need,” one of her followers wrote in the comments section.

“Excuse mehhhhh - this is revolutionary,” said another.

Percy Pig was created in 1992 and according to the British retailer, Marks & Spencer's, website five million packets of original Percy Pig sweets were sold in the last year alone.

The brand has expanded to include different flavours as well as Percy’s friends and smaller versions of the original – Percy Piglets.

“After she saw my video my aunt text me to say they now have Percy Pig ice cream,” Sarah said. “She’s already put some in the freezer for me when I come home later this year!”
