Dog Joins Half-Marathon And Comes In 7th Place

While it's commendable finishing seventh place in a half-marathon, you don't usually end up on the news for it.

But if you're a dog, who was out for a stroll and just happened to find himself in the Alabama race, then let us applaud you.

And that's exactly what happened when this bloodhound named Ludivine wondered into the race by accident.

The two-year-old dog was let out in the morning and somehow by evening he had ran 13.1 miles and had come seventh in the half-marathon.

Speaking with TODAY.com, Ludivine's owner April Hamlin said she was worried that the dog had meddled with the race and may have caused an injury.

"My first reaction was that I was worried she had gotten in the way of serious runners who had trained for the event," she wrote. "And that Barry Pugh, the race coordinator (also a work colleague) would kill me," she said.

“Apparently she went to the race start and took off with the runners at the starting shot. She stayed with a few of the front-runners, ran off to sniff some animal carcasses, romp in the water, and then back to the race.

"I understand she stayed on the course for 13.1 miles, finished seventh, and was the highest placed female,” Hamlin said.

Ludivine finished an unofficial seventh out of 165 runners with a time of 1:32.56.

Now that's impressive
