More than 15 years after the death of his wife, Liam Neeson has provided a new update on his dating status.

Instead, The Grey star said he enjoys spending his spare time reading or watching films and TV with his sons, fellow actor Micheál, 29, and entrepreneur Daniel, 28.

Neeson’s sons were only 13 and 12 when their mother died of the injuries she suffered in a tragic skiing accident in 2009. During a 2022 interview with Parade, Neeson addressed the enduring nature of grief, explaining, “You can put grief away, you can kind of push it to a corner, but it’s always there.”

Despite his grief, Neeson told People that he considers himself to be “very lucky.” In the years after his breakthrough role in 1993’s Schindler’s List, a performance that earned him an Academy Award nomination, the Irish actor became a box office draw through his performances in the Taken franchise and others. With more than 100 film credits to his name, Neeson has continued to work consistently over the years. Neeson’s newest film, Absolution, is slated for release in November, and he will also appear in The Naked Gun remake due out next year.

Even so, age has made Neeson start to consider retirement—especially since many of the films he stars in are action-packed. As Neeson told People, the work “has to stop at some stage.” While he hasn’t decided for sure when he’ll stop acting, he suggested it might be as soon as 2025. “Maybe the end of next year,” he told the magazine, adding, "I think that's it.”
