The Leaked ‘Powerpuff Girls’ Trailer Is Worse Than You Could Imagine
Does anyone remember The CW’s 2021 live-action Powerpuff Girls series that was deemed so bad, so unbelievably atrocious by the internet after a script leak that the company immediately canceled the entire show, pretending like the whole thing never happened?
Well, if you do, then you’re in luck because some brave soul just dug out the never-before-seen trailer of Powerpuff Girls from the vaults of CW hell and leaked it onto social media, giving people a taste of the hot mess that could have been but never was.
🚨BREAKING🚨: For the first time ever, enjoy the trailer to the cancelled adult-oriented Powerpuff Girls live-action CW reboot.

For those unfamiliar with the lore, The CW ordered a pilot for the series back in 2021, written by Diablo Cody and starring Chloe Bennet as Blossom, Dove Cameron as Bubbles, and Yana Perrault as Buttercup. But unlike the original animated series, with its sweet storylines and clear themes of empowerment, The CW’s leaked script revealed that the studio intended to take the show in a dark and gritty direction, very much giving “this isn’t your mother’s Powerpuff Girls" kind of vibes.
Unsurprisingly, fans of the original were not happy with these “creative” changes. In fact, they hated it so much that they waged a vicious internet campaign against The CW, bullying the studio until, eventually, the show got canceled.
Since then, the live-action Powerpuff Girls faded into obscure internet history, never once to be thought of again. Until now.
Published by an account on X called “Lost Media Busters,” the leaked trailer shows how the trio of girls rose to stardom as child superheroes in their hometown of Townsville. Everybody loved them, and everyone wanted to be them, until one day, a mission goes horribly wrong, and the whole town turns against them. Now, the girls are “washed-up” celebrities. Blossom has an anxiety disorder, Bubbles is addicted to alcohol, and Buttercup will not be wearing dresses because it’s “gender normative.”
Oh, and Professor Drake, the loving father figure and genius scientist from the original, is now a misogynistic creep who exploits the girls for money.
Yayyyyy, thanks for the nostalgia; you go, CW.
If you thought the social media reaction to the leaked script was terrible, then the response to the trailer can only be described as brutal.

“So....as it turns out..... this was even worse than we imagined it to be,” one X user wrote, commenting on the post featuring the leaked trailer.
“This is like a parody made by some right winger of a woke show, but it was unironic,” another joked.

And the hate just keeps on coming.
“It’s like they scooped this from the rejected SNL skits [purgatory],” one person wrote on Reddit.
“Holy s---, this was the worst 3 mins of content I’ve ever seen on something from my childhood,” an X user commented. “It’s so bad. I wish I could erase it from my brain.”
After a mere few hours of the leaker posting the trailer, Warner Bros, which owns The CW, got it taken down.

However, they were too slow to stop people from downloading and reuploading the file, ensuring that the internet will never forget the travesty that was the live-action Powerpuff Girls.
