The singer and actress, 38, announced she'll be performing songs from throughout her career on an intimate North American tour set for later this year, PEOPLE can confirm exclusively.

"On this tour, fans can look forward to an evening that is both intimate and nostalgic, filled with some of my personal favorite songs that I've had the privilege of performing throughout my career. I'll be performing songs from Funny Girl, Glee, as well as tracks from my albums, while sharing stories that connect these songs to my life and to the audience. And, of course, there will be a few delightful surprises along the way," the actress-singer tells PEOPLE.

Michele shares daughter Emery, born in August, and son Ever, 4, with husband Zandy Reich. This will be her first time hitting the road since her 2022 tour.

And will her husband and kids be joining her for the outing?

"I’m really hoping that they’ll be able to join me and see some of the shows along the way!" she adds. "There is nothing that warms my heart more than to be close to my family especially when I am on the road."

Kicking off May 5 in Durham, North Carolina, the eight-date tour features shows in cities including Nashville, Orlando, Washington, D.C. and more before wrapping June 28 in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

"After spending the past few months at home with my family and celebrating the joy of becoming a mother of two, I’m so excited to get back on the stage and perform live," Michele said in a statement.

As for what fans can expect from the performances, Michele added, "It will be an amazing night revisiting my time on Glee, singing songs from Funny Girl and telling stories along the way.”

Additionally, a press release teases "a blend of Broadway classics" as well as "songs from her studio albums" and "surprise songs each night." Michele's solo discography includes 2014's Louder, 2017's Places, 2019's Christmas in the City and 2021's Forever.

Tickets first become available through a presale on March 12 at 10 a.m. local time, and fans can sign up for Michele's newsletter at her website for access.

The tour follows the Spring Awakening star's sold-out engagement at New York City's Carnegie Hall in 2023.

"I just think that for me, at the forefront of my brain is having the experience of being in Funny Girl this past year," she said at the time, referencing her run as Fanny Brice in the Broadway revival of the hit musical.

"My son was able to come and see the show, and he sat through the entire show at 2½, which is pretty impressive," she continues. "It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life."

Luckily, Funny Girl was filmed for "the archives," she said. "Maybe my daughter will watch that show in 15 years or whatever. That would be really incredible, to say like, 'Your brother was in the audience and he watched it.'"
