Larry Emdur’s brutal joke to Home and Away's Sam Frost falls flat

Larry Emdur didn’t receive the laughs he wanted when he made an insensitive joke to Sam Frost on The Morning Show on Wednesday.

The Home and Away actress joined the show to chat about her character Jasmine Delaney, whose fate was hanging in the balance after a near-death experience on the popular Channel 7 soap.

Sam’s character was involved in a potentially fatal taco truck explosion on the Australian show this week, and at the time of the interview it was unknown whether or not she survives.

When introducing the 32-year-old on The Morning Show, host Larry Emdur made a brutal joke that her time on the show was limited.

“Gee, you look happy for someone whose career is coming to a crashing halt!” the 56-year-old remarked.

Sam smiled politely, before awkwardly saying “I know”.

“She got blown up by a taco truck and that doesn’t usually end up ending so well,” Sam continued.

“Now she’s in hospital and who knows what’s going to happen in the Bay.”

Home And Away fans are quite familiar with Summer Bay being rocked by explosions, with Isla Fisher’s character Shannon having a near miss from a grenade in 1996.

The River Boys were also caught up in a hospital explosion in 2013 that shocked viewers.

While Sam Frost was on The Morning Show, she spoke to the hosts about how it felt knowing her character would be a part of such a dramatic storyline.

“It’s always exciting,” she explained. “You never know what’s going to happen in the Bay, that’s why it’s the best job in the world.”

“You’ve just got to embrace the chaos.”

The awkward moment was the second one in as many days on The Morning Show, after model Jessica Gomes 'stormed off' the TV set a day earlier.

The Australian supermodel was put on the spot about her rumoured relationship with AFL star Dustin Martin, which led to the bizarre moment.

Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies probed her about the dating rumours, with Larry saying, "I have a hypothetical question".

"Hypothetically, are we still filming?" Jess asked back.

She then asked if the segment was over before getting up off the couch to leave, only to be waved back onto set by a frantic Kylie

"Oh no don't get up, please sit back down," Kylie blurted out in a panic.

"Otherwise they'll say Jessica Gomes storms off The Morning Show set.
