Laraine Newman Tweeted, "F*** The Bear" After Her Daughter Hannah Einbinder Lost The Emmy For Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy
The 2024 Emmy Awards are tonight, and so many talented actors are being honored, whether it be through nominations or actually winning an Emmy statuette.
But with an award show like this, not everyone can go home a winner, and some people are not thrilled about it.
Namely, Laraine Newman, Saturday Night Live alum and Hacks star Hannah Einbinder's mom.
Shortly after Liza Colón-Zayas's Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy win, Laraine posted a now-deleted tweet saying "FUCK. THE. BEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Hannah Einbinder was also nominated in the category for her performance in the series Hacks.
This isn't even Laraine's first argument about The Bear, either. Before the awards show began, she posted, "Every time I think about The Bear being in the comedy category for the Emmys I can feel an ulcer developing."

"I think the Bear is a great show but IMHO it’s not a comedy- not even a dark comedy," she wrote after receiving backlash for her "Fuck The Bear" tweet.

Now, she's not the first person to be frustrated with The Bear, a very dramatic show, being nominated as a comedy. Though many are upset by her tweet, especially since Liza just became the first Latina actor to win this Emmy Award category, and deserves to be celebrated.
personally if I were a nepo baby who lost to the first latina to ever win our category I’d text my mom to delete this https://t.co/dJbtbk5I1O

The series led the night with 23 Emmy nominations, breaking the record for most nominations for a comedy. Critics even questioned the show's inclusion in the comedy category for the 2023 Emmys, where they went home with 10 wins.
"I know some of you might be expecting us to make a joke about whether The Bear is really a comedy," Emmys host Eugene Levy even joked. "But in the true spirit of The Bear, we will not be making any jokes."
Hacks did end up winning the final award of the night for Outstanding Comedy Series.
