Lala Kent's Daughter Sosa Was 'Vomiting’ and ‘Turned Purple’ After Delivery, Almost Sent to NICU: 'This Isn't Normal'
The 'Vanderpump Rules' star welcomed her second daughter on Sept. 3
Lala Kent is revealing some of the distressing details of her recent delivery.
The Vanderpump Rules alum, 34, welcomed her baby daughter Sosa on Sept. 3. While Kent has since shared fun and loving glimpses into life as a newly-minted mom of two, she got candid about her experience giving birth to Sosa on the Tuesday, Sept. 17, episode of her Give Them Lala podcast.
Kent began by sharing that her delivery was very quick until the doctor noticed an issue. “The cord was wrapped around her neck a couple of times. [The doctor] stayed calm because I could see that something was wrong but he didn’t let me know,” Kent, who is also mom to daughter Ocean, 3, recalled.

“She goes out and I go to embrace my baby but she does one cry and then it stops. And my hands are freezing so I’m like, ‘I’m not touching her because I don’t want to send her into shock,' ” the reality star continued, adding that the doctors were trying to get something out of Sosa's mouth.
"It was great that she came out so quickly because I didn’t have to push very many times. But with a fast birth like that, she swallowed a lot of amniotic fluid,” Kent shared of the problem that caused her to stay an extra day at the hospital.
“She had so much fluid in her that she was vomiting all the food out," she continued.

When Sosa "turned purple" shortly after the delivery, "they then [brought] in a specialist. They’re like, ‘We want a surgeon to look at her because this isn’t normal. We’ve got 10 milliliters of amniotic fluid out of her stomach the first time. Then we got another eight,' " Kent recalled.
"They were draining it through the nose and it wouldn’t stop,” she said. “They said, ‘We’re either going to have pediatric surgery deal with it or we want to keep her in the NICU.'”
Luckily, Sosa ended up being fine and no further medical attention was needed. In fact, Kent shared that Sosa has already gained “a pound in one week” since bringing her home.
Earlier this week, Kent posted a carousel of photos on her Instagram, which included the first photo she's shared of her baby's face. The mom of two posted a solo shot of her daughter, sleeping soundly as she was wrapped in a blanket. She also included an adorable photo of her Ocean holding her new sister.
