An Australian mum has become unexpectedly caught up in the world of global celebrity after being sent a legal letter by Kylie Jenner.

The commotion came to be after the 21-year-old mogul’s company sent a letter to Gold Coast brand Case Clothing over a t-shirt featuring the words “rise and shine”.

Cashing in

Kylie made the phrase famous after singing it to her one-year-old daughter, Stormi Webster, while waking the toddler up in a now-viral clip last month.

In a bid to capitalise on the moment, Kylie Inc. has attempted to trademark both “rise and shine” and “Riiise and Shiiinnee”

But according to the brand’s owner, who did not want to be named by the Gold Coast Bulletin, their shirts had been for sale for a year and the double-up was nothing more than a coincidence.

“I used to really like her, now I’m like are you kidding me,” she told the publication.

Not too much to lose

Luckily for the brand, the T-shirts in question have largely already sold out.

“Unfortunately, we just don’t have the money to fight something like that and she has enough cash to take us down. It’s not worth it,” the owner said.

“We still have a few left but don’t plan on selling them now. I would be really pissed if we had $4000 worth of T-shirts here but we only have about eight or so.”

Despite the allegations, Kylie made fashion-based headlines of her own this week after dressing Stormi up as herself for Halloween in a replica of the plunging mesh gown she wore to this year’s MET Gala.
