Kyle and Jackie O finally confirm Melbourne start date: 'Very different'

Fans have been wondering for some time when the radio hosts would make the announcement.

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie 'O' Henderson have finally confirmed when they will launch in Melbourne after announcing they will also be broadcasting to the Victorian capital last year.

The pair, who host The Kyle and Jackie O Show on KIIS, revealed the rumours are true, and they will be launching in Melbourne on Monday, April 29.

Speaking to Melbourne-based radio host Byron Cooke on KIIS 101.1, Kyle said, "Let me just warn everyone. It doesn’t matter what you’ve heard and what the newspaper or this person or some other radio station says, we’re not here to change your mind."

He continued, referencing former KIIS 101.1 hosts Jase Hawkins and Lauren Philips, "We’re just going to give you a very different type of radio show. I’m not saying the other ones are the worst shows in the world because they’re not. They’ve been great, but we just offer something different.

Jase and Lauren were axed last year when it was confirmed Kyle and Jackie O would be broadcasting to both Sydney and Melbourne after signing their new $200m deal, however, they found a new radio home with Nova 100, with the pair kicking off their new show last week.

Jackie O added, "We're looking forward to finally broadcasting into Melbourne. We're excited."

Kyle and Jackie O move to new studio

After broadcasting from Australian Radio Network's Macquarie Park studios for ten years, Kyle and Jackie O recently moved to new studios in North Sydney.

Kyle recently teased that the show wouldn't start airing in Melbourne "until they move into their new place" after confusion from listeners who expected the pair to begin broadcasting from the Victorian capital at the start of the year.

Kyle and Jackie were reportedly hesitant to sign their new $200m contracts until their bosses agreed to build them a new state-of-the-art studio

The entire ARN team will be broadcasting from the new studios by April, including WSFM's Brendan 'Jonesy' Jones & Amanda Keller.
