Kristen Wiig wore a red ruffled Valentino gown to last night’s 2020 Oscars ceremony.
The 46-year-old actor and comedian’s look has inadvertently caused much hilarity on Twitter.
She may have been wearing an haute couture creation from a world-leading fashion house, but it seems this didn’t stop users on the social platform from comparing Wigg’s look to everything from lasagne to cartoon crustaceans.
And if there’s anything that could make us crave the cheesy pasta dish earlier in the day, it’s this graphic look, with its dramatic ruffles mimicking the curled edges of lasagne pasta sheets, and its bright-red colour resembling tomato sauce. Yum.
But that’s not the only comic comparison people have drawn.

Wiig also paired the look with long, elbow-length black opera gloves, taking the black tie dress code to the next level (unlike the likes of Timothée Chalamet who wore a Prada tracksuit). On her feet, she wore
While her larger-than-life gown and gloves combination did most of the talking, Wiig also sported a slicked-back, cropped platinum hair style – which fit in well with fellow A-listers Olivia Colman and Jane Fonda, who also debuted shorter, lighter looks (platinum-blonde and grey respectively) for the awards ceremony.
