Krispy Kreme and Pop-Tarts Are Releasing the Ultimate Breakfast Pastry Collaboration

It's a new year, which means it's time for all-new doughnuts at Krispy Kreme. Only this time, it's not delivering these new sweet treats alone.

On Monday, the Charlotte-based doughnut chain announced that it's releasing three new doughnuts in partnership with another brand that's rather well-known for its breakfast offerings: Pop-Tarts.

“Krispy Kreme and Pop-Tarts are coming together for the very first time — you know the result will be Crazy Good,” Dave Skena, the chief growth officer at Krispy Kreme, shared in a statement provided to Food & Wine. “Krispy Kreme and Pop-Tarts fans will love kicking off the year with this delicious collaboration!”

The duo is releasing a trio of new doughnuts, including the Pop-Tarts Frosted Strawberry Doughnut. This unglazed shell doughnut is filled with strawberry filling, then dipped in shortbread icing and topped with an astonishing amount of tiny little items: shortbread pieces, sugar sprinkles, a strawberry filling drizzle, and a Frosted Strawberry Pop-Tarts Bites piece.

Next on the menu is the Pop-Tarts Frosted Chocolatey Fudge Doughnut, made with an Original Glazed Doughnut base that's then dipped in chocolate icing and topped with brownie batter-flavored buttercreme, along with some crushed Frosted Chocolatey Fudge Pop-Tarts Bites and white nonpareils for good measure.

Last but not least is the Pop-Tarts Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Doughnut, made with a cinnamon sugar doughnut base that is then topped with brown sugar cinnamon cream cheese-flavored buttercreme and a Frosted Cinnamon Roll Pop-Tarts Bites piece for a nice little crunch.

"Pop-Tarts aren't just for the toaster — they can infuse culinary creativity to delight consumers," Jessica Waller, the general manager of Kellanova Away From Home, which oversees Pop-Tarts, added. "Krispy Kreme has done an incredible job bringing this opportunity to life, combining their iconic doughnuts with the beloved flavors of Pop-Tarts to create a truly one-of-a-kind experience for fans of both brands. We’re proud of this partnership to bring Crazy Good to doughnuts and doughnut lovers in unexpected ways.”

But like all great things, these, too, will only be available for a limited time. Customers who want to get their hands on the Krispy Kreme x Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Doughnuts Collection can find them in-shop. They're also available for pickup or delivery via Krispy Kreme’s app and website. You can grab them as individual doughnuts or part of a dozen. And you may be able to find the doughnuts in Krispy Kreme 6-pack boxes delivered to select retailers (find a retailer near you here). However, if you do miss out on this collaboration, you could always buy a dozen originals along with a box of your favorite Pop-Tarts and mash them up at home. But something tells us that just wouldn't be the same.
