Kmart shopper stuns coffee lovers with 'genius' $9 storage hack

Fans of the budget retailer are eager to try this at home.

When it comes to clever storage hacks, Kmart is once again proving they have the goods. One Aussie who describes herself as a serial organiser recently shared her creative genius by adapting the popular $9 Clear Skincare Shelf to be used in her kitchen coffee station.

While the clear acrylic shelf - which is easily attached it to a wall with adhesive tape — has been designed to store and organise skincare or makeup, she found a better use for it in her kitchen and the results are organisational magic.

"My $9 Kmart fix, why didn't I think of this before!" she shared on a Kmart Facebook page. "Originally purchased for my shower but thought the shampoo bottles, etc, wouldn’t hold. But this is a far better use."

Sharing her clever twist on the bathroom shelf, the idea was praised as being a functional storage solution that looked "amazing" too.

After seeing her post, others quickly started to share how they have used the handy little shelf too. "Same! I have two in my shower for shower things. Then I put one in my kitchen to hold my Starbies cups," responded a fan.

"We've used ours outside on the window to hold our speaker because the kids keep trying to take it in the water with them," another shared.

Although fellow Kmart fans loved the idea, many questioned how long the shelf would hold up, due to the tool-free installation. Surprisingly, those who'd been using the shelf a while said theirs had been up "for months" without an issue.

The clever Aussie who shared the post confirmed the shelves are sturdy. "The adhesive bits are very sticky, so I doubt it will be coming off for a while, if at all," she said, revealing the trick is to let them stick with nothing on the shelf for 24 hours.
