This Is Why Kim Kardashian Is Being Called Out For Her Birthday Message To Ivanka Trump

Kim Kardashian is being called out after she shared a heartfelt message to former president Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump just days before the presidential election.

Kim has been close friends with 43-year-old Ivanka for several years, and the two were first photographed together a decade ago at the 2014 Met Gala. Taking to her Instagram story on Wednesday, the star shared a photo of herself cuddled up to Ivanka as she wished her a happy birthday.“No one sweeter than you @ivankatrump,” she wrote, adding three white heart emojis. Kim followed up with more photos of herself and Ivanka over the years, and the entire thing rubbed some people the wrong way.

Although the post was for Ivanka’s birthday, some felt that Kim’s decision to platform Trump’s daughter to her 360 million followers less than a week before the Nov. 5 election was a conscious decision.

Kim famously worked closely with Trump during his presidency, meeting with him in 2018 as part of her work as an advocate for criminal justice reform.

At the time, she discussed Alice Marie Johnson's case with the then-president, and one week after his meeting with Kim, Trump granted Johnson clemency.

Kim visited the White House again in 2020, when Trump agreed to reduce the sentences of three female prisoners who had been jailed for drug-related and white-collar crimes.

Kim previously addressed the controversy surrounding her decision to work with Trump during her appearance on My Next Guest With David Letterman back in 2020.

“Trust me, everyone called me and said: ‘Don’t you dare step foot in that White House or your reputation is done,’” she explained at the time. “And I said: ‘I have to step foot in there, or these people don’t have a chance.’”Kim previously shared her support for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris after they won the 2020 election. However, she did not publicly endorse Biden prior to the vote. Kim also hasn’t publicly endorsed anybody in the upcoming election.
