Palace slips up with yet another royal baby bungle

Itâs one of the biggest weeks in history for the staff of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but unfortunately it seems the excitement may have gotten too much for the palace communications team.
Ever since Meghan Markle went into labour early on Monday morning, thereâs been a series of awkward bungles from the palace, which came to a head in an embarrassing faux pas on Archieâs official page on the royal familyâs website last night.
âArchie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born at 05:26 on Monday 6th May,â the first line of the adorable totâs bio read.

âHe is the first child of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and is seventh in line to the throne.â
Archie is of course the son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and while the bio was changed in quickfire time, it didnât stop royal watchers from screenshotting the gaffe and posting it all over social media.
Meghanâs labour miscommunicated
It came after some media agencies in the UK were left fuming when they were left in the dark about Meghanâs labour on Monday, while other agencies seemed to have received information from the palace in an official email.
According to the Daily Mail, a 'profuse' apology was sent out by the Sussexâs new PR manager, Sara Latham, to UK media on Tuesday, apologising for the bungle.
Kensington Palace apparently blamed a âcolossal tech failureâ for some of the emails sending, landing in some media agency inboxes an hour late, and other agencies not receiving the email at all.

âWe sent emails which showed as sent at 13.27, 13.49, 14.03,â Sara said, according to The Telegraph.
By the time many of the agencies had received news that Meghan was in labour, it was already worldwide news, after being broken by Sky News, who received the email the first time around.
It caused a massive headache for news editors all around the world, who all desperately tried to find out from the palace what was going on.
When Yahoo UK contacted Buckingham Palace after the announcement was made by Sky News that Meghan had gone into labour, they claimed they were unaware of anything that was going on.
Then, just before the Duke and Duchess were to make their first appearance together as a family of three yesterday, Sara Latham was seen in a video shooting out of the way of photographers so as to not ruin the shot.
Sara Latham
It was announced back in March that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had appointed Hillary Clintonâs former campaign advisor to head up their communications team.

âSara Latham has been appointed to head up communications for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, reporting directly to The Queenâs Communication Secretary,â a statement released by Kensington Palace said.
âSara joins from Freuds where she oversaw global corporate accounts with a particular emphasis on executive thought leadership and purpose-led campaigns.â
Sara was instrumental in Hillary Clintonâs 2016 presidential campaign and her appointment is being heralded as a new chapter for the royal family.
Up until then, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had the same communications team as Prince William and Kate Middleton.
It was also announced that the Queen has agreed to the creation of a new Household for Harry and Meghan, which is now based out of Buckingham Palace, instead of Kensington Palace.

âThe Household, which will be created with the support of The Queen and The Prince of Wales, will be established in the spring,â a statement read.
âThe Duke of Sussex currently has his own private office, which has been supporting The Duchess since the engagement of Their Royal Highnesses in November 2017.
Upstaged by the Cambridges
In another apparent error in communication, the Cambridgesâ social media team tweeted about Kate Middleton and Prince Williamâs latest activities just seven minutes after the world was given the first glimpse of baby Archie.
With the worldâs attention focused on the Sussexes in Windsor, the Kensington Palace Twitter account (which until the recent split used to also represent the Sussexes) shared a video of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge inspecting a helicopter on their trip to North Wales.
âToday The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are visiting North Wales to meet individuals and organisations who are encouraging people to look after their communities and protect the natural environment â starting with a visit to Caernarfon Coastguard Search and Rescue,â the tweet read.
