Kendrick Lamar Has Already Been Tapped for This Big Event in 2028

Fresh off his triumphant halftime performance at the Super Bowl, Kendrick Lamar has already likely nailed down another high-profile gig, even if it’s three years away.

2028 Olympic organizing committee chairman Casey Wasserman told the Associate Press on Thursday, March 20 that Lamar will likely be part of “the greatest show on earth” when the Olympics come to Los Angeles in three years.

Wasserman made the remarks in an interview before he spoke to sports leaders at the International Olympic Committee’s annual meeting in Costa Navarino, Greece.

“Fortunately in my day job I represent Kendrick Lamar,” said Wasserman, who heads an international talent and promotions agency. “He is truly an LA icon so I think it would be a pretty fair bet that Kendrick will be involved in the Olympics in Los Angeles in some way.” The opening ceremonies are already set for July 14, 2028.

The Olympics will also help rebuild Los Angeles following the fires that ravaged parts of the city in January, Wasserman said. “The rebirth, the rebuild, maybe reimagining LA 2.0 — and the Olympics as a catalyst for all those things — we think is really part of our ethos,” he said.

“You can’t have a natural disaster at that scale in a city as big and as important as Los Angeles and not have it be part of your core philosophy going forward,” he added.

The news of Lamar’s Olympic performance comes as the NFL shared the stats Thursday on the rapper’s record-breaking Super Bowl LIX halftime performance. “Biggest. Halftime Show. EVER,” the post on X, formerly Twitter reads.

A video posted under the claim revealed that the Apple Music-sponsored performance racked up 3.65 billion total global views, including 1.7 billion from user-generated content. In addition, it received 810 million impressions, and 50 million people watched it on YouTube within the first 72 hours of release, a 50 percent increase over last year’s Super Bowl.
