Kelly Ripa recalls comical overnight moment with Mark Consuelos in bed: 'Like a werewolf meets Frankenstein'

Ripa revealed that Consuelos nearly woke himself up — and shushed himself — in his sleep.

There's no need for Kelly Ripa to be afraid of monsters under the bed — by her own admission, she has one sleeping right next to her every night.

The daytime TV icon hilariously revealed Wednesday that her husband and cohost Mark Consuelos' overnight snoring recently got so bad that he actually woke himself up — and shushed himself — for causing such a ruckus.

Ripa began Wednesday's pre-recorded Live With Kelly and Mark show by offering sleeping tips to inconsistent slumberers, before recalling Consuelos' bout with snoring (which, as she's noted in the past, is a recurring issue in the Ripa-Consuelos household) in front of the studio audience.

"You woke yourself up, because even you could not stand the sound of your own snoring. His snoring got so insurmountable for him, that he woke up and shushed himself. I'm not kidding. He shushed himself. I was like, 'Are you shushing me? Because you're shushing you,'" Ripa said as the crowd laughed.

The 53-year-old also said that she and the three children she shares with Consuelos send each other memes mocking Consuelos' snoring.

"No matter where you are the in the house, if Mark is sleeping, you can hear him snoring," she said. "You are 99.9 percent perfection, you really are, you're a joy. He doesn't even have morning breath, it's weird. But, you make up for it because when you close your sleepy little eyes, part of you comes alive. The dark-sided part, the you that wants to be seen comes out. It's like a werewolf meets Frankenstein."

The snoring hasn't bothered Ripa too much, though, as the former All My Children costars have been married since 1996. They recently traveled back to the Las Vegas chapel where they held their secret wedding 28 years ago, and facilitated the nuptials of a younger couple while in the city.
