Kelly Clarkson Shares a Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Making of Kellyoke — Watch!

In August, Clarkson announced that her viral covers will be available on SiriusXM’s Kelly Clarkson Connection channel

Though Kelly Clarkson makes her daily Kellyoke segments look and sound seamless, there's a lot of preparation that goes into it.

On Monday, Sept. 9, the singer and talk show host shared a step-by-step video on the making of her viral segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

"When they first started talking to me about doing a talk show, I asked why first of all, and then I was like, 'If I'm going to do it, I feel like I should do it my way,'" Clarkson, 42, said. "We had already been doing this thing called fan request on tour for years."

Clarkson then introduced Jason Halbert, who's her musical director and plays an important role in the Kellyoke process.

"I'm a huge fan of music so I think it's really important to not get bored with your catalogue," he said. "I was curious how we were going to incorporate music into the show and I remember Alex [Duda] and Kelly talking about instead of doing a monologue every day we were going to do the fan request but we were going to call it Kellyoke."

He then went on to list a step-by-step process which includes how the song is chosen, cutting it down to two minutes, tracking and recording the song, making a music chart, recording a reference and Clarkson reviewing it at the end of the day.

Halbert also noted that he keeps every song request he gets on email and social media and then Clarkson reviews the list. She makes her choice based on what she's connecting with at the moment.

"When I hear something that moves me I really want to perform it," said Clarkson, who chose to cover Benson Boone's "Beautiful Things" for this particular episode.

On Aug. 8, the "Piece by Piece" singer announced that her viral Kellyoke covers will be available on SiriusXM’s Kelly Clarkson Connection channel.

"I’m very excited to share the Kellyokes because it’s the one thing I get asked the most is, 'Can you just put them all out on a CD? Can you put them all…' A CD. Oh my God. I’m so from the '90s. What?" Clarkson said in an Instagram post.

She continued: "Kelly Clarkson Connection was the perfect place to have this, I mean, it’s my station, so why wouldn’t we put them out here so my fans can listen to them? People have been asking me nonstop, so we are starting with like several to start with, but we’re gonna start seeping them in here and there and this will be the place that you can hear the Kellyokes mixed and mastered for this station specifically."

Fans can also tune in to SiriusXM 12 to hear stories behind her covers and the feedback she received from the artists who created the original tracks.

Earlier this week, the "Breakaway" singer celebrated 22 years since she won American Idol in 2002 — but she first had to be reminded by a staffer named Andy from The Kelly Clarkson Show.

In a video shared on the talk series' social media accounts on Sept. 4, Clarkson acknowledged the "exciting" moment before explaining why she forgot about the anniversary.

"I didn’t even realize what day it was. I’m worried about my kids’ first day of school, which is tomorrow," she said.
