Katy Perry Teases She'll 'Dust Off Some Deep Cuts' for Lifetimes Tour — and Suggests Wearing 'Sensible Shoes' (Exclusive)
The U.S. Lifetimes Tour leg kicks off May 7 at the Toyota Center in Houston
Katy Perry's upcoming tour will be remembered for lifetimes.
As the pop star gears up to hit the road for her newly-announced Lifetimes Tour in support of her 2024 album 143, Perry tells PEOPLE her tour is going nothing short of a "love-filled spectacle."
"This show will be full of BPM (beats per minute). So I suggest wearing some sensible shoes and staying hydrated because I think there's going to be a whole heck of a lot of us just dancing the night away," Perry, 40, says.
Days before releasing 143, the "Dark Horse" singer put on a spectacular performance at the VMAs, where she was honored with the video vanguard award. According to Perry, the set was a glimpse into what fans can expect from the tour.
"We always put together a message in this huge Disneyland-on-wheels type tour. There's costume changes, there's acts, there's dancers, there's musicians. I'll fly around the room. There's no bad seat in the house," Perry teases. "I'm going to get close to everyone at some point."

The tour, which kicks off in Mexico City on April 23, is also going to be a "celebration of a lot of the songs that people know."
"I will be introducing people to a few new songs, and I'm calling it Lifetimes Tour because I'm celebrating the whole lifetime of songs thus far," she says, before teasing that she's "going to dust off some deep cuts."
Perry also created a "fun fan experience" called the Club 143 experience with a bartender: "It's mom's night out too," she quips.
While this tour is all about fans having a blast, Perry is prioritizing her health, family and putting on a great show.
"I'm 40. I have a family. I have a whole other world outside of this that I'm tending to as well. I know the responsibility of putting on a tour and how much people look forward to it," the "Firework" singer says. "I'm really trying to stay in the best shape, give my body breaks, look after myself so that I can show up every night and give as close to 100% that I can."
Before every show, Perry has a "crunchy granola" routine — and she's sharing the "game-changing" practice she'll implement on the road.
"I have a lot of ways of tapping into that energy. One thing that we always incorporate on tour is meditation. We bring teachers out [for] whoever wants to do transcendental meditation, and then we always do it at 6:00 p.m. before the shows," she says. "It's been my mom hack for the whole time. I mean, it feels like you get a two-hour nap in 20 minutes!"
The Lifetimes Tour marks Perry's first major string of North American concerts since her Witness Tour wrapped in 2018, and he upcoming U.S. leg launches on May 7 at the Toyota Center in Houston. See the tour dates here.
