Kath and Kim reunion to air on Seven in 2022: 'Noice!'

Rumours of Kath & Kim returning to Australian screens have been swirling all year.

The cult-classic comedy series is considered one of Australia’s most-loved programmes of all time, and Seven has just announced a two-part reunion special.

Slated to air sometime in 2022, Kath Day-Knight and Kim Craig (nee Day) are back to celebrate the show’s 20th year anniversary.

The reunion will take place across two “yuge” nights, with the iconic duo joined by Kel Knight, Brett Craig, Kim’s second-best friend Sharon Strzelecki and more surprise guests.

Titled Kath & Kim’s Effluent Life, fans went absolutely wild for the news.

“Noice, different, unusual!!! Let’s all crack open a Baileys, BBQ shapes and even throw in a Baby Jesus,” one wrote on social media.

“This calls for a glass of Tia Maria and some footy franks!” a second chimed in.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about anything ever,” another quipped.

“This is my Super Bowl”, added a fourth, while another said: “Keen doesn’t even begin to describe this feeling”.

Executive Producer Rick McKenna gushed about the show in the press release, saying that it was ‘great fun getting the team back together’.

“It’s fascinating and delightful to see audiences around the world still loving Kath & Kim after 20 years…we look forward to sharing [the show] very soon,” he said.

Seven’s Chief Content Officer of Entertainment Programming also admitted that Kath was his ‘first crush’.

“Since I was a young lad, I’ve admired the elegance and poise of Kath Day-Knight – and her clowning glory,” he began.

“In fact, it’s safe to say she was my first crush. From high-couture to yoga, Kath and Kim have had an immeasurable impact on the world.

“While I still find it difficult to look Kath in the eyes without blushing, it is an honour to be able to reunite them with their adoring fans.”
